Art from the heart: city council launches competition for Birmingham’s creative children
Children’s art competition launches ahead of Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games
Birmingham City Council has launched an art competition in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games for school children aged 4 to 18 years old across Birmingham.
The competition – My Bold Birmingham – invites children from across the city to submit a drawing, painting, or creative submission to demonstrate ‘what Birmingham means to them.’
The winners will have their artwork brought to life by local artists and showcased on digital screens across the city and on display in the Council House for all to see.
Cllr Ian Ward, Leader of Birmingham City Council, said:
“Following the success of Be Bold Be Birmingham’s street art mural in Digbeth, we wanted to roll out a similar opportunity for our younger residents.
This summer, Birmingham will be put on the global stage as the Proud Host City of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Never has there been a better opportunity to showcase the incredible artistic talent we have in this city.
There are no rules, other than the freedom to be as creative as possible and reflect what Birmingham means to them.”
