Trevor McIntosh, Birmingham Batonbearer

‘Stand up for what you believe in!’ is the mantra from Trevor McIntosh, Social Care Practitioner who has worked with the council since 1995.

When speaking to Trevor you get a feel for his many passions and drive which has no doubt been shaped by his own life’s tough struggles. He has overcome personal and family challenges and alongside building a successful career in social care, he is also the main carer for one of his daughters who has sickle cell anaemia. This has been a driver during the last 20-years for raising awareness and launching various initiatives and charity events in his community, such as the Annual Sickle Cell and Thalassemia cricket match.

Community is at the heart of who Trevor is and alongside Family fun and Health Awareness Days he has set up a community interest company called ‘UK Legends of Legends’. This organisation showcases UK Lovers Rock artists giving them the opportunity to connect with new audiences and Trevor organises major events each year. During lockdown he supported other community initiatives and befriending services which included assisting Birmingham Care Group to set up a food bank for those in need.

If you want something done, ask a busy person! Always seeking to make a difference, Trevor is optimistic, engaging, and excited to have this recognition and responsibility as a baton bearer – usually reserved about what he has achieved we say enjoy your walk of fame Trevor as now is your time to shine!
