“I'm proud to be from Birmingham because I think it's a place which really welcomes people. Even if you've not lived here for very long you can call yourself a Brummie and really feel part of the city.

I think Birmingham has influenced me hugely as a person through my role. By just living in Birmingham, I've met people from all over the world and I think it's really taught me that there's not one way of being and one way of seeing the world. There's kind of a huge variety of culture that's really beautiful and should be celebrated.

One of the things that I want people to take away from the Commonwealth Games is that there is such value in a city being hugely diverse, open and welcoming.”
