City of progress
Our city is growing fast, with transformative schemes across the city to welcome the leading global business and residents making Birmingham their home. Iconic city centre offices at Paradise, one of Europe’s largest mixed use and leisure schemes at Smithfield, new communities being created at Langley and Perry Barr and retrofit and net zero infrastructure projects across the city. Ambition backed with investment is transforming Birmingham.
To support this progress, we’re delivering almost 30,000 new homes over the next 10 years and have ambitious plans to green the heating and insulation of 700,000 homes across Birmingham and our neighbouring cities of Wolverhampton and Coventry. HS2 will also bring much more than people and even stronger connectivity, it will be a catalyst for growth and another gateway to our resurgent city for the rest of the UK.
We are driving for more and forming partnerships for progress. Our Future City Plan will radically alter the breadth of development across central Birmingham and our plans to level-up East Birmingham, an area the size of a city in itself, are unprecedented in the scale of our ambition.
