Short Term 2021 to 2022 (including Games)
- Healthy Flagship Programme: Launch a new Sport Strategy linking health and wellbeing approaches to a broader activity agenda
- Increase the outreach of funded programmes in the city to increase physical activity
- Launch an ethical sponsorship commitment for the Games Host the Food Systems Summit 2022
- Ensure the Games are delivered in line with Smoke-Free, Drink-Healthy and Safe-Protection principles
- Launch the Commonwealth Games Young Persons grant that supports 11 to 18-year-olds with their physical and mental health
- Launch the Love Explore gamification app
Medium Term 2021 to 2024
- Embed ‘Make Every Contact Count’ training into Games Volunteering training
- Develop a series of resources and profiles that raise awareness and understanding of inequalities
- Develop and adopt a multi-lingual approach that connects with ethnic communities on the benefits of active lifestyles
- Accelerate integration of physical activity into clinical care pathways and develop healthy eating strategies
- Develop suite of resources that explain the Eatwell Guidelines for a healthy diet in the context of cultural norms
Long Term 2021 to 2024+
- Ensure that major events hosted in Birmingham actively encourage citizens of all ages and abilities to engage in activities that improve their health and wellbeing
- Launch campaign focused on increasing active travel amongst ethnic communities
