Short Term 2021 to 2022 (including Games)
- Work with Games partners and local employers to increase the number of apprenticeships and work placements available, for example through the WMCA’s Construction Gateway initiative
- Work with Commonwealth Games partners to deliver the Kickstart programme and Apprenticeship levy
Medium Term 2021 to 2024
- Ensure Birmingham residents gain maximum benefits from the opportunities of the Games’ capital build projects
- Maintain contractor relationships to maximise skills and jobs opportunities
- Develop and deliver a Leisure, Tourism and Visitor Destination plan
Long Term 2021 to 2024+
- Thriving Flagship Programme: Strengthen the capability of the city to attract world-class major sporting and other events to Birmingham
- Deliver a targeted tourism, inward investment and trade programme promoting Birmingham as a world class destination
- Amplify the work of the West Midlands Combined Authority to deliver the Jobs and Skills academy, protecting 1,000 volunteering opportunities for hard to reach groups
