Short Term (2021 to 2022)
BCC Education and Skills: Develop a programme of opportunities for work experience in businesses across the city, for young people not in education, employment or training and work with the B2022 OC to ensure increased access for Birmingham’s children and young people to key games assets. BCC Scheme (not part of Partner Legacy Programme).
BCC Education and Skills: Co-locate a national demonstrator youth hub and Games volunteer hub at the Library of Birmingham. BCC Scheme (not part of Partner Legacy Programme).
Aspiring Flagship Scheme. BCC Education and Skills and Birmingham 2022 Organising Committee: Deliver an ongoing schools learning programme to enhance knowledge of the heritage and history of the Commonwealth.
BCC Education and Skills: Work with the B2022 OC to deliver an ‘Open Call’ small grants fund to secondary schools across the city. Games Partner led with BCC support.
BCC Education and Skills: Support the Youth City Board to engage with the leadership opportunities provided as part of the B2022 Youth Panel between October 2021 and August 2022. Games Partner led with BCC support.
BCC Education and Skills: Work with the B2022 OC to deliver a programme of activity across designated Youth Hubs, supporting children and young people to learn about, celebrate and feel part of the journey towards Birmingham 2022 Games Partner led with BCC support.
Birmingham Children’s Trust: Deliver the Bfriends Games as part of the Unlocking the Games programme. Games Partner led with BCC support.
BCC Education and Skills and Birmingham 2022 Organising Committee: Work with the B2022 OC to ensure increased access for Birmingham’s children and young people to key games assets, e.g. mascot, athlete ambassadors, School Festival Days and mass participation events. Games Partner led with BCC support.
Medium Term (2021 to 2024)
Birmingham Children’s Trust: Develop a strategy to ensure meaningful engagement with young people of all background across Birmingham on key issues for the future of the city. Games Partner led with BCC support.
Birmingham Children’s Trust: Build on the Bfriends programme delivery to grow flagship large hubs and community hubs across the city to continue the delivery of activities for children and families known to BCT. Games Partner led with BCC support.
Long Term (2021 to 2024+)
BCC City Operations and Birmingham Children’s Trust: Ensure that future major events hosted in Birmingham are inclusive and strengthen connections with the city’s young people. BCC Scheme (not part of Partner Legacy Programme).
Aspiring key measurements for benefits realisation monitoring
- Number of youth Not Employed or in Education (NEET) engaged in functional training
- Number of young people engaged with the learning programme
- Percentage of young people who feel they have a better understanding of Commonwealth
- Number of schools engaged with the learning programme at Reception to KS4
- Reach 5,000+ young people and families who wouldn’t otherwise have access to the games both virtually and physically.
