Bring the power
Bring the Power was a youth programme partly funded by Birmingham City Council that created pathways for children and young people to get closer to the Games and be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime celebration of sport and culture.
The youth programme was designed to give young people a voice, help them to be able to make a positive difference, and be ready to tackle life’s challenges.
Bring the Power engaged at least one million children and young people aged 5 to 25 years across Birmingham and the West Midlands. The programme complemented the curriculum to widen knowledge, improve access to sports, art and culture while helping to boost confidence and resilience. By supporting children and young people to acquire new skills, Birmingham 2022 offered them a once-in-a-lifetime chance to expand their horizons and learn from others.
Bring the Power has supported:
- Over 100 workshops in schools across Birmingham
- Factory, Concord and Lighthouse Youth Centres have become Games hubs
- Intercity basketball competition
- Athlete and official mascot visits
- Common Ground Grant
- Commonwealth Games album project
