Benefits for the community
Healthy Birmingham
Improving health and wellbeing
A legacy aim of the Commonwealth Games is to inspire and enable Birmingham’s residents to improve and sustain their levels of physical activity and well-being. We want our residents to live more active, longer, healthier and independent lives. We are continuing to work with our partners across the city and the region to deliver accessible and welcoming programmes for everyone in every corner of Birmingham.
Building on the work already underway we will continue to improve cycling and walking infrastructure to encourage people to get out and about and build exercise into their daily lives.
There is also sustained efforts to use the power and platform of the Games to improve mental wellbeing and accelerate mental health awareness across the city.
